The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
The preview shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
