It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batters to hold a record if never given the possibility.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this victory succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.
